Shaping the Industry for Five Years: Insights from PHARMAP 2025 in Berlin

On 14-15 April in Berlin, Germany, the Pharmaceutical Manufacturing and Packaging Congress (PHARMAP) 2025, brought together 280+ key industry leaders from across the globe. Held over two dynamic days, the Congress showcased the latest advancements and fostered strategic collaborations in shaping the future of the pharmaceutical industry. The event was supported by the Platinum Sponsor Innowise Group, Principal Sponsor CryoXpert – the medical division of Dohmeyer, along with Regional Partners Almirall Hermal GmbH, Sandoz and INVITE GmbH.
I liked the organisation; it was very professional. I felt very well taken care of. What I really liked was the opportunity to meet people from other companies or suppliers. To discover that sometimes you think that you are alone with your problem, but then you meet a bunch of people who are in the same topic, who share your experience and with whom you can exchange what solutions they found for the problems, - Dr. Jürgen Wiedemann, Vice President, Head of Pharma Technology Systems at Bayer AG.
Addressing Key Industry Challenges: PHARMAP Business Programme
The business program focused on contract manufacturing, pharma supply chains, facility design and layout, personalised medicine, sustainability concerns and the application of AI in manufacturing and packaging. 55 Speakers, including experts from Bayer, RidNova and CryoXpert, participated in various session formats such as panel discussions and roundtables, sharing their expertise and vision for the industry's evolution.
The Future is Digital: A Key Theme at the Congress
PHARMAP 2025 heavily emphasised the role of digitalisation in optimising pharmaceutical operations. The event held Session 4 dedicated to digitalisation in Pharma Manufacturing. Philip Schneider (Global Drug Product Network Technology Lead at F. Hoffmann-La Roche), Jacob Mortensen (VP Corporate Accounts & Pharma at Blue Ocean Robotics), Airton Miranda (Innovation & Development Manufacturing Manager at Novo Nordisk), Anders Bergman (Digital Business Transformation Lead at AstraZeneca) and Francesc Luque (MES/MOM Director at Almirall SA) explored smart solutions and shared their experience. The discussions highlighted that digital transformation is no longer a future aspiration but a present-day necessity for competitive advantage.
Exploring Packaging and Manufacturing Innovations at Focus Exhibition
The PHARMAP 2025 exhibition area was one of the highlights of the Congress, showcasing the latest innovations in the pharmaceutical industry. Over 50 companies presented solutions ranging from advanced labelling equipment to innovative monitoring technologies, among them were Blue Ocean Robotics with their UVD Robot Pharma for autonomous disinfection in pharmaceutical environments and Langguth GmbH with a high-precision system for labeling vials and small ampoules. The attendees were provided hands-on demonstrations and the opportunity to explore the newest tools for enhancing production efficiency, ensuring product integrity and meeting evolving regulatory requirements.
Unlocking Networking Opportunities at the Congress
One of the highlights of the Congress was its networking platform, facilitating over 270 B2B meetings. Each delegate was provided with a personal manager who helped connect them with potential future partners based on their specific interests and business objectives. The meetings were held in designated VIP meeting rooms, sponsored by Sefar AG.
The meetings were very helpful: we had a chance to meet here some companies that I didn’t know at the beginning and I think we established some relationships for future contact which could be very helpful for both parties. - Carlos Martins, Head of Industrial & Operations Unit at Generis Farmacêutica S.A.
Five Years of Progress at PHARMAP
PHARMAP 2025 marked a significant milestone: its 5th anniversary as a key platform for collaboration and knowledge sharing in the pharmaceutical industry. To celebrate this achievement, PHARMAP launched a social media contest, encouraging experts to share their Congress experiences through photos and win a special prize.
This culminated in a captivating anniversary gala dinner, providing attendees with a relaxed and celebratory atmosphere to further strengthen relationships. The evening featured gourmet meals paired with fine wines, a live band performance, special anniversary surprises throughout the event and a lottery offering valuable prizes, creating a memorable and festive conclusion to the Congress.
